Chinese word for color is 色彩(sècǎi) or 颜色(yánsè). As you may have noticed that many colors in Chinese are ended with the word 色(sè), for example 红色, 红 means "red" and 色 means "color", so together it means "the color red".

In Chinese culture, Red represents fire, and is the most popular color in China. It symbolizes luck, joy, and happiness, be used wildly in celebretion, wedding, Chinese new year. Red almost always written with the character 红 (hóng), addtionally characters 赤 (chì) and 朱 (zhū) also mean red.

White 白 (bái) is universally considered the color of purity: 清白 (qīngbái), "clear white", is actually the adjective "pure, clean", but can also mean "innocent". In some instances, however, white is associated with death and is a color commonly worn at funerals.
