我出生在泉州永春的一个山村里面

I was born in a mountain village in Yongchun, Quanzhou

hòu lái dào le chéng lǐ miàn gōng zuò hé shēng huó

后来到了城里面工作和生活

Later I moved to the city to work and live

wǒ jiù shì chéng shì huà de dà làng cháo lǐ miàn de yī gè qīn lì zhě

我就是城市化的大浪潮里面的一个亲历者

I’m one of those who experience the great wave of urbanization

zhè xiē bèi huāng fèi diào de cūn zi

这些被荒废掉的村子

These abandoned villages

yǐ jīng pāi le wǔ nián

已经拍了五年

I’ve been shooting them for five years

In 2010

yī gè ǒu rán de jī huì xià miàn jiù cí zhí le

一个偶然的机会下面就辞职了

Accidentally I resigned

lái wán chéng zì jǐ de shè yǐng

来完成自己的摄影

To finish my photographing

liú yuán shì pāi chéng shì huà de guò chéng zhōng

《流园》​​是拍城市化的过程中

Liuyuan is a project about the wholly abandoned villages

zhěng gè cūn zi dōu bèi cūn mín huāng qì de yī gè xiàng mù

整个村子都被村民荒弃的一个项目

During the process of urbanization

zuì zǎo shì pāi le zhè jiāng zhōu shān biān shàng de yī gè shèng sì liè dǎo lǐ miàn de gǒu qǐ dǎo

最早是拍了浙江舟山边上的一个嵊泗列岛里面的枸杞岛

In the beginning I shot the Gouqi Island of the Shengsi Islands near Zhoushan, Zhejiang

zhè gè cūn zi yǒu dòng fáng zi

这个村子有105栋房子

The village had 105 houses

nián jiù wán quán huāng fèi le

95年就完全荒废了

It was completely deserted in 1995

dào xiàn zài suǒ yǒu de fáng zi dōu bèi pá shān hǔ pá mǎn

到现在所有的房子都被爬山虎爬满

Now all the houses are covered with creepers

nà zhāng shì zài guǎng dōng de dèng biān cūn

那张是在广东的邓边村

This picture is the Dengbian village in Guangdong

zhè gè cūn zi zài nián dài hěn duō rén jiù yí mín dào hǎi wài qù le

这个村子在80年代很多人就移民到海外去了

In the 1980s lots of villagers had already moved overseas

huò zhě wǎng chéng shì lǐ miàn zǒu le

或者往城市里面走了

Or gone to cities

suǒ yǐ yī xiē róng shù jiù bǎ zhěng gè fáng zi bāo qǐ lái

所以一些榕树就把整个房子包起来

So some banyan tress surround houses

rén hé zì rán zhī jiān de zhè zhǒng guān xì jiù shì cǐ xiāo bǐ zhǎng

人和自然之间的，这种关系就是此消彼长

There’s a balance between humans and the nature

rén jìn zì rán kě néng tā tuì yī diǎn diǎn

人进自然可能它退一点点

While humans move a step forward, the nature withdraws

rén tuì zì rán jiù mǎ shàng bǎ tā huí shōu huí qù

人退自然就马上把它回收回去

While humans back away, the nature takes it back immediately

jī běn shàng měi gè huāng cūn wǒ dōu huì jì lù jìn cūn de lù

基本上每个荒村我都会记录进村的路

Basically I record the road leading to every abandoned village

yīn wèi jìn cūn de lù jiù shì tā bèi huāng qì de zhǔ yào yuán yīn

因为进村的路就是它被荒弃的主要原因

Because the road is why it’s deserted

bǐ rú shuō xiàng hé nán de fēng mén cūn

比如说像河南的封门村

Like the Fengmen Village of Henan

zài tài xíng shān de shēn chù

在太行山的深处

Is deep in the Taihang Mountain

lù yǐ jīng dōu wán quán bèi chōng huǐ le

路已经都完全被冲毁了

The road has been completely destroyed

guāng bù xíng de shí jiān huā le bā xiǎo shí bàn

光步行的时间花了八小时半

It took me eight and half hours walking into the village

yǒu yī xiē cūn zi lǐ miàn huì yǒu yī liǎng gè lǎo rén liú zhù

有一些村子里面会有一两个老人留著

In some villages there’re one or two old men stay there

qí zhōng de yī gè lǎo rén shì tā zài shān shàng hái yǒu yī xiē nóng zuò wù hái méi shōu chéng

其中的一个老人是他在山上还有一些农作物还没收成

One old man stays because he still has some crops to harvest

hái yǒu yī gè shì yīn wèi chéng shì shēng huó tā shì méi fǎ shì yīng de

还有一个是因为城市生活他是没法适应的

Other one stays because he can’t get used to urban life

tā yòu bān huí lái le

他又搬回来了

So he moves back

quán bù dōu xuǎn zé zài xià tiān pāi shè

全部都选择在夏天拍摄

All of my shooting is done in summer

xià tiān shì xiāng duì bǐ jiào shǎo qíng gǎn yìng shè de yī gè jì jié

夏天是相对比较少情感映射的一个季节

Summer is a season with comparatively less emotion

wǒ jiù yòng zhè yàng de yī gè sè cǎi fāng shì

我就用这样的一个色彩方式

I use such a color pattern

hái yuán yī zhǒng bǐ jiào píng jìng de qíng xù

还原一种比较平静的情绪

To reproduce a kind of quite calm emotion

2014年的时候

In 2014

zhèng hǎo háng zhōu de xiāo shān yǒu yī gè dà de chāi qiān

正好杭州的萧山有一个大的拆迁

There happened to be a big demolition in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou

nà cì shì chāi le dòng fáng zi

那次是拆了1043栋房子

1043 houses were pulled down

cūn mín men lí kāi lǎo de jiā zhī qián pāi yī gè jiā tíng hé yǐng

村民们离开老的家之前拍一个家庭合影

Villagers took family photos before leaving their old homes

jiù zhǎo dào jī huì le kāi shǐ pāi táng qián jiān hé yí wù

就找到机会了，开始拍《堂前间》和《遗物》

So I seized the chance to begin shooting the series of Tangqianjian and Yiwu

táng qián jiān tā shì nóng cūn de jiàn zhù lǐ miàn yī lóu de kōng jiān

“堂前间”它是农村的建筑里面一楼的空间

A ‘tangqianjian’ is the ground floor of rural buildings

yī xiē rén qíng wǎng lái

一些人情往来

Villagers socialize

dōu shì zài xiǎo kōng jiān lǐ miàn wán chéng de

都是在小空间里面完成的

In the small space

fēi cháng wēn qíng

非常温情

It’s really warm

yǒu zài nà biān tiē hěn duō de jiǎng zhuàng

有在那边贴很多的奖状

Some put up lots of certificates of merit on the wall

xiàng qīn rén men shuō wǒ de hái zi xué xí chéng jì hái bù cuò

向亲人们说我的孩子学习成绩还不错

To show their relatives the children achieved good grades in school

hái yǒu tiē le hóng shuāng xǐ shuō jié hūn le

还有贴了红双喜说结婚了

Some had double-happiness decorations to indicate marriage

rán hòu hóng shuāng xǐ cóng lái dōu bù sī diào

然后红双喜从来都不撕掉

And the decorations have never been torn off

tā men bèi chāi diào de zhè gè shí kè

它们（被）拆掉的这个时刻

When they were pulled down

shì zài wǒ men nóng cūn rén jìn chéng de shí hòu

是在我们农村人进城的时候

Our countrymen migrated to cities

hěn zhòng yào de yī gè zhuǎn biàn

很重要的一个转变

It’s an important transition

yí wù shì duì yǐ wǎng de yī xiē shēng huó de yī xiē zhuī sù

《遗物》是对以往的一些生活的一些追溯

Yiwu is about tracing past life

zhè gè chí táng shì nóng cūn fù nǚ xǐ zǎo shàng qǐ lái xǐ yī fú

这个池塘是农村妇女洗早上起来洗衣服

The pond used to be where rural women did laundry in the morning

xǐ cài táo mǐ de yī gè dì fāng

洗菜，淘米的一个地方

And washed vegetables and rice

yě shì nóng cūn shēng huó lǐ miàn jiā tíng fù nǚ zài jiāo huàn xìn xī

也是农村生活里面家庭妇女在交换信息

It was also where rural housewives exchanged information

jiā zhǎng lǐ duǎn de yī gè dì fāng

家长里短的一个地方

And gossiped

zhè gè shì wǒ bǐ jiào xiǎng bù míng bái de

这个是我比较想不明白的

This is what I can’t understand

tā wèi shén me yào yí qì tā de jiā tíng xiāng cè

他为什么要遗弃他的家庭相册

Why did he abandon his family photos

yǐ wǎng de qíng gǎn de chéng zài de yī gè zhòng yào de wù zhèng zhè gè dōu yí qì le

以往的情感的承载的一个重要的物证这个都遗弃了

Important items with emotions

chá jù wǎn zài nóng cūn de shí hòu

茶具碗，在农村的时候

Tea ware and bowls, in rural areas

jīng cháng jiā lǐ miàn huì yǒu yī gè bǐ jiào dà de jù huì

经常家里面会有一个比较大的聚会

People often had big family gatherings

dàn shì dào le chéng shì lǐ miàn

但是到了城市里面

But after they move to cities

jiù yuè lái yuè shǎo le

就越来越少了

They seldom do it

tā qí shí yě shì cóng zhè zhǒng shè huì guān xì zhuǎn biàn

它其实也是从这种社会关系转变

It’s actually a record of the changes in social relationship

hé shēng huó fāng shì zhuǎn biàn de yī gè jì lù

和生活方式转变的一个记录

And lifestyle

wǒ zǒu le zhè jiāng fú jiàn guǎng dōng shān xī

我走了浙江、福建、广东、山西

I’ve traveled to Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Shanxi

hé nán hé běi hái yǒu běi jīng

河南、河北，还有北京

Henan, Hebei and Beijing

zǒu le sì shí jǐ gè cūn zi

走了四十几个村子

I’ve visited over forty villages

hái xū yào huā wǔ liù nián shí jiān

还需要花五六年时间

I still need five to six years

xī wàng néng gòu bǎ zhěng gè zhōng guó dōu zǒu yī biàn

希望能够把整个中国都走一遍

I hope to travel all over China

gěi hòu miàn de rén liú xià yī fèn bǐ jiào wán zhěng de shì jué dàng àn

给后面的人留下一份比较完整的视觉档案
