A harleguin duck which was supposed to live near the Arctic Circle appeared in Beijing

We filmed grey cranes in January, the coldest time in Beijing

鹤类本身就是胆儿特别小的一种动物，特别警觉

Crane is a type of timid and vigilant animal

我们就是必须得在早上拍到它们起飞的这样一个画面

We needed to capture the scene of them flying in the morning

zài tiān hēi de shí hòu chū fā rán hòu kāi dào chē bù néng kāi de dì fāng

在天黑的时候出发，然后开到车不能开的地方

We set off when it was still dark and drove to a place where car could not get in

jiù yán zhù bīng wǎng zhè gè huī hè qún fù jìn pá

就沿著冰往这个灰鹤群附近爬

Then we climbed on the ice to get near to the flock of gray cranes

pá yī mǐ guān chá yī xià

爬一米观察一下

Once we moved for one meter, we stopped to observe

刚好那两天北京降温

There was a drop in temperature in Beijing

The gale was blowing, forming an ice storm

It likes rising to a great height

Folding its wings

And dropping headlong like a bullet

People who are afraid of height can’t shot it

Because you need to reach out from the building

When I saw the bird, I didn’t want to bother it

就想到它在这能安家，就真的是找不到地方了

I thought it must settle down here because it couldn’t find anywhere else

我当时（刚来北京）在大街上漫无目的没有家的感觉

When I first came to Beijing, I wandered on the streets, feeling homeless

I thought the bird must feel the same way

None of us is photography major, biology major or animal major

我在拍这片子之前，认识不了几种野生鸟类

I only knew a few wild birds before making the documentary

dāng nǐ le jiě le yǐ hòu nǐ jiù fā xiàn shēn biān niǎo hěn duō

当你了解了以后，你就发现（身边）鸟很多

But after I learn more, I find there’re a lot of birds near us

chéng shì lǐ biān de dòng wù tā yǒu yī gè hěn dà de tiāo zhàn

城市里边的动物它有一个很大的挑战

A big challenge to animals in urban areas

jiù shì chéng shì de biàn huà tè bié kuài

就是城市的变化特别快

Is that a city changes rapidly

duì biàn huà de shì yīng shì yī gè hěn dà de tiāo zhàn duì dòng wù lái shuō

对变化的适应是一个很大的挑战，对动物来说

Those animals have to adapt to the changes, which is a huge challenge to them

野生动物在现场你看到的时候是不一样的

Wild animals are different when you see them on the spot
