Three years ago, I bought a house in Shanghai and settled down

It’s located in Taixing Road

A typical Shikumen new lane

离南京西路走路大概只有5分钟

It’s only 5 minutes’ walk away from Nanjing West Road

欢迎来到我的家

Welcome to my home

kě yǐ kàn dào xiàn zài wǒ men zài de zhè gè dì fāng jiù shì wǒ yī lóu de kè tīng

可以看到现在我们在的这个地方，就是我一楼的客厅

Now as you can see, we’re in my living room on the first floor

xī là zài ài qín hǎi biān de shèng tuō lǐ ní

希腊，在爱琴海边的圣托里尼

Santorini of Greece by the waters of the Aegean

duì yú wǒ lái jiǎng fēi cháng měi hǎo de yī gè chǎng jǐng

对于我来讲非常美好的一个场景

Is a beautiful place to me

jiù bǎ yī lóu zhěng gè de sè diào zuò le zhè yàng zi de bù zhì

就把一楼整个的色调做了这样子的布置

So I make the shades on the first floor into that style

yī lóu zhǔ yào shì wǒ de yíng bīn qū

一楼主要是我的迎宾区

The first floor is my main space to greet guests

yīn wèi wǒ měi tiān huàn yī fú shì zài yī lóu

因为我每天换衣服是在一楼

I get changed on the first floor every day

yǒu bǐ jiào dà de luò dì jìng

有比较大的落地镜

So there’s a big full-length mirror

yǒu yī gè bái de kōng jiān zuò wèi yī gè bèi jǐng

有一个白的空间作为一个背景

And a white space as the background

chū mén zhī qián suǒ yǒu de wài yī mào zi bāo kuò xié zi

出门之前所有的外衣、帽子、包括鞋子

Before going out, I match all the clothes, hat and shoes

dōu zài yī lóu zhè gè kōng jiān wán chéng dā pèi

都在一楼这个空间完成搭配

In the space on the first floor

zhè lǐ jiù shì wǒ de yī mào jiān

这里就是我的衣帽间

Here is my wardrobe

里面这里有一个很神奇的东西

There’s a magical stuff inside

It looks like a refrigerator

But it’s actually a sterilizing machine

所以里边其实挂的也是衣服

So it has clothes inside as well

这个房子其实一共有三层

The house actually has three storeys

The usable area is around 170m2

我的上一任房主，他是把整个的产权都处理得很干净

Because the former owner made the property relation really simple

一本老洋房的房产证就可以交易掉了

So the trade was made with just one property ownership certificate

tā dāng shí hái shì bǐ jiào pò làn de

它当时还是比较破烂的

It was quite broken

我们做到了最大化的舒适度

We’ve made it as comfortable as it could be

A brand-new steel structure for supporting

所有的楼板做了混凝土的浇筑，铺装地暖

All the floors are made from reinforced concrete and equipped with underfloor heating

我把所有的功能，从最重要到最不重要排序

I ordered all the functions from the most important to the least important

三楼是我的卧室和一个非常大的卫生间

On the third floor there’re my bedroom and a really big bathroom

（卧室）做成了一种非洲帐篷、酒店的风格

The bedroom has the style of an African tent, like a hotel room

huān yíng dà jiā lái dào wǒ de xǐ shǒu jiān

Welcome to my bathroom

zhè yě jiù shì wǒ sān lóu de yī gè zhǔ wèi shēng jiān

这也就是我三楼的一个主卫生间

This is the washroom in the master bedroom on the third floor

yīn wèi zài xǐ shǒu jiān lǐ miàn wǒ dài de shí jiān shì zuì zhǎng de

因为在洗手间里面，我待的时间是最长的

I stay in the bathroom for the longest time

bǎ tā miàn jī zuì dà huà

把它面积最大化

So I maximize its area

gēn zhǔ wò jǐ hū yī yàng dà

跟主卧几乎一样大

To almost as big as the master bedroom

wǒ měi tiān zǎo shàng qǐ lái de shí hòu wǒ huì zuò yī xiē shēn zhǎn yùn dòng

我每天早上起来的时候，我会做一些伸展运动

Every morning after I get up, I do stretches

zài dào yù shì lǐ biān

再到浴室里边

Next, I go to the bathroom

xiān pào shàng yī bēi kā fēi rán hòu kāi shǐ xǐ shù

先泡上一杯咖啡，然后开始洗漱

I would first make myself a cup of coffee, and then start washing

rú guǒ qián yī tiān wǎn shàng bǐ jiào lèi de huà

如果前一天晚上比较累的话

If I was tired the last night

nà wǒ dì èr tiān zǎo shàng yī dìng huì pào yī gè zǎo

那我第二天早上一定会泡一个澡

I would surely take a bath the next morning

zài wǎn shàng de shí hòu wǒ jiù huì yòng bǐ jì běn diàn nǎo huò zhě shǒu jī

在晚上的时候，我就会用笔记本电脑或者手机

At night I deal with some simple things

chù lǐ yī xiē jiǎn dān de shì qíng

处理一些简单的事情

On my laptop or cell phone

wǒ jué dé zhè lǐ miàn shì wǒ zuì sī mì zuì xiǎng shòu de yī gè shí jiān duàn

我觉得这里面是我最私密、最享受的一个时间段

I think that’s the most private and most pleasant period of time for me

大家可以看到，整个客厅里

As you can see, the highlight of the living room

zuì liàng yǎn de dì fāng jiù shì wài biān yǒu yī gè huā yuán

最亮眼的地方就是外边有一个花园

Is the garden outside

因为我特别喜欢坐低的地方

I’m really into low seats

suǒ yǐ kě yǐ kàn dào wǒ de shā fā rán hòu bāo kuò wǒ de chá jǐ

所以可以看到我的沙发，然后包括我的茶几

So my sofa, my tea table

diàn shì guì dōu shì bǐ jiào dī de

电视柜都是比较低的

And tv table are all quite low

zhěng gè èr lóu yǒu yī xiē wǒ zài ōu zhōu liú xué shí hòu de yǐng zi

整个二楼有一些我在欧洲留学时候的影子

The second floor has some memories of mine when I studied in the Europe

The former Tingzijian(utility room) now becomes a European jungle

这次疫情期间，在家里不能出门

During the epidemic, I couldn’t go out, so I stayed at home

wǒ jiù duì zhěng gè fáng zi de gǎn shòu jiù huì gèng shēn

我就对整个房子的感受就会更深

Now I have a deeper understanding of the house

zài shàng hǎi de shì zhōng xīn yǒu zhè yàng zi yī gè dì fāng

在上海的市中心，有这样子一个地方

In the center of Shanghai, there’s a place for me to hide

xiàng yī gè shì wài táo yuán yī yàng

像一个世外桃源一样

No matter what happens outside

bù guǎn wài miàn fā shēng shén me shì qíng wǒ dōu kě yǐ huí lái duǒ cáng

不管外面发生什么事情我都可以回来躲藏

It’s like a land of peace
