那一年我们班一起经历了汶川特大地震

That year our class went through the great Wenchuan earthquake

yīn wèi shàng tǐ yù kè

因为上体育课

The whole class were on the playground

suǒ yǒu rén dōu zài cāo chǎng shàng

所有人都在操场上

Because we were having a physical exercise session

ér quán bān xìng miǎn yù nán

而全班幸免遇难

That's how we dodged a bullet

nián le dào xiàn zài

11年了到现在

It's been 11 years

zhè dài nián qīng rén wǒ men zhǎng dà le

这代年轻人我们长大了

And we are now all grown-ups

jīng lì guò zhè xiē shāng tòng de rén

经历过这些伤痛的人

Having been through such disaster

qí shí bìng méi yǒu pǔ tōng de rén qù xiǎng xiàng dé nà me cǎn

其实并没有普通的人去想像得那么惨

We didn't sink into hopeless blackholes like some would imagine

shì huì fēi cháng qù zhēn xī xiàn zài shēn biān de rén huò zhě nǐ xiàn zài yōng yǒu de shì qíng

是会非常去珍惜现在身边的人或者你现在拥有的事情

On the contrary, we cherish what we have all the more

In 2018

wǒ gāng gāng wán chéng zì jǐ rén shēng de dì yī bù jì lù piàn diàn yǐng

我刚刚完成自己人生的第一部纪录片电影

I finished my first documentary film

jiào chū sān sì bān

叫《初三四班》

"Class Four, Grade Nine"

wǒ xuǎn le sān gè tóng xué de gù shì

我选了三个同学的故事

The film features three of my classmates

jiǎng shù wǒ men bān xìng cún zhī hòu zhè shí nián de chéng zhǎng jīng lì

讲述我们班幸存之后这十年的成长经历

Following the ten years of them after that catastrophe

wǒ men nà yī jiè tè bié tè bié

我们那一届特别特别

We did receive some special treatment

suì de chū zhōng bì yè shēng bù yòng kǎo zhōng kǎo

15、6岁的初中毕业生不用考中考

We were accepted by the Beichuan High School

jiù kě yǐ shàng běi chuān zhōng xué de gāo yī

就可以上北川中学的高一

Without taking the entrance exam

dà bù fēn tóng xué huò zhě lǎo shī de jiā lǐ dōu yǒu rén yù nán

大部分同学或者老师的家里都有人遇难

Most of them had casualties in their family

dàn nà gè shí hòu qí shí xué xí què shí bù shì nà me zhòng yào

但那个时候其实学习确实不是那么重要

Studying any particular subject was not a priority

nà gè shí hòu zuì zhòng yào de jiù shì xīn líng zhòng jiàn

那个时候最重要的就是心灵重建

Instead recovering from this trauma was

jiù shì tā zài kū tā zài xiào tā yī gè rén zài nà dài zhù

就是他在哭，他在笑，他一个人在那待著

He might be crying, or laughing, or just hanging

nà wǒ men zhī jiān jiù yī qǐ péi zhù jiù xíng le

那我们之间就一起陪著就行了

And we would stay with him

nǐ hái shì dé miàn duì shēng huó ya

你还是得面对生活呀

After all, life must go on

tóng xué huì shì wǒ men bān de bān zhǎng ràng wǒ zǔ zhī de

同学会是我们班的班长让我组织的

Our head student suggested a reunion 26

In the seventh year of the earthquake

同学会之后

After the reunion

wǒ jiù yī zhí gēn mǔ zhì xuě bǎo chí lián xì bìng qiě qù pāi tā

我就一直跟母志雪保持联系并且去拍她

I stayed in touch with Mu Zhixue and filmed her

dì zhèn zhōng tā de fù qīn yù nán le

地震中她的父亲遇难了

Her father died in the earthquake

tā mā mā jiù shì cóng yī gè nóng cūn fù nǚ kāi shǐ qù xiǎng zhù bàn fǎ zuò shēng yì

她妈妈，就是从一个农村妇女开始去想著办法做生意

And her mother, a village woman, started to run a small business

bǎ tā gēn tā dì dì jiù shì gōng chū lái

把她跟她弟弟就是供出来

To pay for school for her and her brother

dì zhèn zhī qián tā shì tǐng wén jìng de nà zhǒng

地震之前她是挺文静的那种

She was rather quiet before the earthquake

cún zài gǎn méi yǒu nà me qiáng de nǚ shēng

存在感没有那么强的女生

People hardly noticed her presence

tā tū rán jiān biàn chéng le yī gè hǎo huó pō

她突然间变成了一个好活泼

But all of a sudden she became very bright

hǎo yōu mò de yī gè nǚ hái

好幽默的一个女孩

And funny

yīn wèi tā shī qù le fù qīn

因为她失去了父亲

Because she lost her father

tā jué dé wǒ qí shí kě yǐ hěn kāi lǎng yī diǎn

她觉得我其实可以很开朗一点

She thought that if I appear to be happy

kāi xīn yī diǎn

开心一点

Put on a smile

bié rén jiù bù huì lái wèn wǒ

别人就不会来问我

People would stop asking

wǒ jiā lǐ zěn me le

我家里怎么了

What happened to you

màn màn dì jiù biàn chéng le tā zì jǐ xìng gé de yī bù fēn

慢慢地就变成了她自己性格的一部分

And that gradually became part of her personality

pāi tā de guò chéng dāng zhōng

拍她的过程当中

During the film

tā jiāo le yī gè nán péng yǒu

（ 她）交了一个男朋友

She started dating a man

dào le tā jié hūn zhī hòu

到了她结婚之后

And after she got married

忽然间有点明白2008年春节

She finally could understand why in the 2008 Spring Festival

她妈妈为什么在房子后面她爸爸的那个坟那边哭那么久

Her mother was choked with tears beside her father's tomb

mǔ zhì xuě hé tā lǎo gōng xiàn zài shēng huó zài chéng dōu

母志雪和她老公现在生活在成都

Mu Zhixue and her husband live in Chengdu

zuì jìn yě huái yùn le

最近也怀孕了

And she recently got pregnant

zhuàng tài tè bié hǎo

状态特别好

She was almost radiating

wǒ men zhè gè bān de rén

我们这个班的人

Our classmates

kàn qǐ lái hǎo xiàng bǐ tóng líng rén gèng jiā chéng shú yī xiē

看起来好像比同龄人更加成熟一些

All look a bit more mature than others of the same age

hěn jiān nán de shí hòu kě néng jiù huì xiǎng

很艰难的时候可能就会想

In times of difficulty we would be like

wǒ shēng sǐ dōu jīng lì guò lái le nà me dà de zāi nán

我生死都经历过来了，那么大的灾难

After what I have been through, such huge disaster

wǒ hái yǒu shén me jiù shì bù néng miàn duì de ne

我还有什么就是不能面对的呢？

What can't I confront

hé lín zhú shì yī gè duō suì de xiǎo huǒ zi

何林烛是一个20多岁的小伙子

He Linzhu is a man in his early twenties

zài dì zhèn zhōng shī qù le tā de dì dì

在地震中失去了他的弟弟

He lost his little brother in the earthquake

tā bà mā zhī qián jiù shì lí hūn de

他爸妈之前就是离婚的

His parents divorced before that

tā yě méi yǒu qù niàn dà xué

他也没有去念大学

He didn't go to college

gāo zhōng bì yè zhī hòu qí shí qù wài miàn dǎ gōng

高中毕业之后其实去外面打工

He worked away from home after middle school graduation

hòu lái zhuǎn niàn yī xiǎng

后来转念一想

Later it occurred to him

jué dé zì jǐ néng duō zhuàn jǐ gè qián

觉得自己能多赚几个钱

That the extra money he earned by working so far away from home

néng huàn lái wǒ gēn wǒ jiā rén de zhè zhǒng rì cháng de péi bàn ma

能换来我跟我家人的这种日常的陪伴吗？

Can hardly compensate for the loss of his time with his family

我得回去

So he decided to go back

xuǎn zé le huí xīn běi chuān xiàn chéng

选择了回新北川县城

To the New Beichuan county

tā kě yǐ yī tiān dǎ sān fèn gōng

他可以一天打三份工

He works three shifts everyday

jiù zhǐ shì wèi le gěi jiā rén zuì hǎo de shēng huó

就只是为了给家人最好的生活

To provide his family with a better life

dōng tiān chǎo bǎn lì xià tiān mài bīng fěn

冬天炒板栗，夏天卖冰粉

He sells chestnuts in winter, and iced desserts in summer

jī shǎo chéng duō hěn nǔ lì

积少成多，很努力

He worked really hard

zhǐ yào shēng mìng hái zài

只要生命还在

As long as you are breathing

qí shí hái yǒu kě néng qù chuàng zào hěn duō dōng xī ma

其实还有可能去创造很多东西嘛

There is still so much more to create

tā yǒu shí hòu gēn wǒ kāi wán xiào

他有时候跟我开玩笑

He sometime jokes with me

shuō jué dé duì zhè gè xiàn chéng shì yǒu yī diǎn diǎn zé rèn gǎn de

说觉得对这个县城是有一点点责任感的

That he somehow feels responsible for the county

wǒ men nà gè bān

我们那个班

80% of our classmates

ba dōu liú zài le sì chuān gōng zuò

80%吧都留在了四川工作

Are now working in Sichuan

dà xué bì yè zhī hòu zhǎo yī fèn gōng zuò

大学毕业之后，找一份工作

After college, find a job

rán hòu tán liàn ài yǒu de rén jié hūn

然后谈恋爱，有的人结婚

Meet someone, get married

yǒu de rén kě néng xiàn zài dāng mā mā le

有的人可能现在当妈妈了

And probably have a baby

wǒ men bān de nǚ bān zhǎng

我们班的女班长

Our head student

tā xiàn zài zài běi jīng niàn yán jiū shēng jīn nián gāng bì yè

她现在在北京念研究生，今年刚毕业

She just finished graduate school in Beijing

hái yǒu yī gè gū niáng jiào xiào jìng

还有一个姑娘叫肖静

And a girl Xiao Jing

jiù zài běi chuān shǎo nián gōng dāng lǎo shī le

就在（北川）少年宫当老师了

Is now teaching at Beichuan Children's palace

tā xiàn zài huái yùn bā gè yuè dà le

她现在（怀孕）八个月大了

She is now 8 months pregnant

tā men xiàn zài zuì xiǎng yōng yǒu de

他们现在最想拥有的

What they really want

qí shí jiù shì pǔ tōng de nián qīng rén de pǔ tōng shēng huó

其实就是普通的年轻人的普通生活

Is ordinary life as an ordinary person

zài dì zhèn zhī qián

在地震之前

Before the earthquake

suǒ yǒu de rén dōu huì shuō nǐ yào nǔ lì dì kǎo gāo fēn

所有的人都会说你要努力地考高分

Everyone was like, you must work hard and get high grades

shàng hǎo de dà xué

上好的大学

Go to a prestigious university

dàn shì dì zhèn zhī hòu

但是地震之后

But after that happened

tā men jué dé hǎo hǎo dì xìng fú dì dù guò yī shēng

他们觉得好好地、幸福地度过一生

They started to realize

yě shì yī jiàn tè bié zhòng yào de shì qíng

也是一件特别重要的事情

The importance of living a happy life

qí shí zhěng gè běi chuān xīn xiàn chéng

其实整个北川新县城

The new Beichuan county

shè huì de gè zhǒng tǐ xì yǐ jīng huī fù le

社会的各种体系已经恢复了

Has basically been restored

hěn duō zhí wèi shì xū yào nián qīng rén huí qù gōng zuò de

很多职位是需要年轻人回去工作的

We have plenty of vacancies in want of young people

hěn duō tóng xué yě yuàn yì huí qù

很多同学也愿意回去

And many of us are willing to return

yòng zì jǐ xiàn zài de néng lì

用自己现在的能力

To contribute to Beichuan

zài qù wèi běi chuān zuò yī diǎn shì qíng

再去为北川做一点事情

To do whatever we can

zài guò èr shí nián zài guò sān shí nián

再过二十年，再过三十年

Twenty or thirty years later

zhè jiàn shì qíng bèi dàn wàng wǒ jué dé shì hěn kěn dìng de shì qíng

这件事情被淡忘我觉得是很肯定的事情

I believe the collective memory of the accident would fade away

méi guān xì ba

没关系吧
