Our guesthouse is in the back mountain of Nanshan, Chongqing

周围就是一片树林， 包括有松树，有竹林，有香樟树

It’s surrounded by a forest with pine trees, bamboos and camphor trees

从城里开车，大概20多分钟就能到这里

It’s less than 30 minutes’ drive from downtown to here

房价其实是重庆市最贵的

The room price is the highest in Chongqing

yě chāo guò le suǒ yǒu wǔ xīng jí jiǔ diàn de fáng jià

也超过了所有五星级酒店的房价

And exceeds that of all 5-star hotels

My name is Guo Li and I’m an independent architect

整个的设计加上改造的过程大概是花了一年多一点

The whole process of design and renovation took a little over one year

我每天到山上做的第一件事情

The first thing after I arrived at the mountain

The guesthouse covers an area of around 3 mu

房子的主体有三层

The main part has 3 storeys

rán hòu zuì shàng miàn hái yǒu yī gè gé lóu xiàn zài yī gòng zhǐ yǒu liù gè fáng jiān

然后最上面还有一个阁楼，现在一共只有六个房间

And there’s an attic on the top, so there’re 6 rooms all together

因为周边的环境它是无价的

It boasts invaluable surroundings

suǒ yǐ wǒ men shè zhì le jiù shì hěn duō de gōng gòng kōng jiān

所以我们设置了就是很多的公共空间

So I arrange a lot of public spaces

一个森林泳池

A forest swimming pool

yī gè tū chū zài lín zi lǐ de yī gè bō lí fáng

一个突出在林子里的一个玻璃房

A glass room where the forest can be seen

zhè fáng zi jié gòu tā běn lái shì yī gè nèi zǒu dào

这房子结构它本来是一个内走道

Aisles of the house were originally placed indoors

jiù shì suǒ yǒu zǒu dào tā shì hēi de

就是所有走道它是黑的

And were all dark

wǒ dāng shí shè jì de shí hòu zǒu dào de wū dǐng gěi tā qǔ diào

我当时设计的时候， 走道的屋顶给它取掉

Then I remove their roof

rán hòu zuò le yī gè bō lí dǐ de shuǐ chí yǎng le yī diǎn xiǎo yú

然后做了一个玻璃底的水池，养了一点小鱼

And make a glass-bottom pond with fishes inside

tái tóu néng kàn jiàn tiān kōng zhī yú

抬头能看见「天空之鱼」

Look up and you can see fishes ‘swimming in the sky’

shè jì gǎi zào zǒng gòng huā le wàn

设计改造总共花了800万

The project costs 8 million

yòng de dōng xī dōu shì hěn hǎo de

用的东西都是很好的

All the stuff I use is the best

ruǎn zhuāng zhè kuài jiù huā le chà bù duō yǒu wàn

软装这块就花了差不多有200万

2 million is spent on decor

zuì guì de jiù shì kè tīng de bì lú tā de jià gé chà bù duō shì shí wàn duō

最贵的就是客厅的壁炉，它的价格差不多是十万多

The most expensive thing is the fireplace in the living room and it costs around 100,000

zhòng qìng de dōng tiān tā shì bǐ jiào lěng de méi yǒu jí zhōng gōng rè

重庆的冬天它是比较冷的，没有集中供热

Because it’s cold in winter in Chongqing and we don’t have a heating system

dōng tiān wǒ men bǎ lú zi shēng qǐ lái zhī hòu jiù shì wéi zhù zhè gè lú zi liáo tiān

冬天我们把炉子生起来之后，就是围著这个炉子聊天

We would light a fire in the fireplace in winter and chat around it

huò zhě shì kǎo kǎo mián huā táng zhī lèi de jiù hěn hǎo wán

或者是烤烤棉花糖之类的，就很好玩

Or roast some marshmallows, and it’s really fun

zhè jǐ kuǎn shā fā dōu shì dé le hóng diǎn jiǎng de

All our beds are nice

每个床垫我都是自己亲自去试睡了之后才挑选的

I’ve tried every mattress before I bought them

liù gè fáng jiān yǒu liù zhǒng fēng gé

六个房间有六种风格

Each of the six rooms has their own style

yī shàng lóu tī rán hòu yòu shǒu biān jiù shì wǒ men de shù wū

一上楼梯然后右手边就是我们的树屋

Walk upstairs and turn right to our tree room

tā shì yǒu sān kē shù shì chuān guò zhè gè shù wū

它是有三棵树是穿过这个树屋

3 trees go through the room

wǒ dā le yī gè ān quán wǎng rán hòu xiǎo hái jiù kě yǐ zài nà gè shàng miàn qù tiào

我搭了一个安全网，然后小孩就可以在那个上面去跳

I set up a safety net so children can jump and play there

gé lóu de nà gè fáng jiān jiù shì xīng kōng fáng

阁楼的那个房间就是星空房

The attic is the star room

yī bān dōu huì yào tí qián yī gè yuè cái néng dìng dé dào

一般都会要提前一个月才能定得到

You have to make a reservation one month in advance

què dìng wèi liǎng gè rén cái néng zhù

确定为两个人才能住

And guarantee there would only be 2 people checking in

bù xiǎng jiù shì rén duō le tā jiù huì bù yī yàng de

不想就是人多了它就会不一样的

We don’t want too many people in the room because that would change the feeling

因为旁边就是树林，就还是想做成一个森林里的泳池

I want to build a forest swimming pool since the woods is just nearby

那个马赛克也是特殊订制的

The mosaic tiles are custom-made

tā měi kuài de yán sè dōu bù yī yàng

它每块的颜色都不一样

And each of it has a different shade

ér bù huì shì zhěng piàn de yī gè lǜ sè

而不会是整片的一个绿色

Not all the same green

wǒ men de wài dì kè rén ne jī běn shàng néng zhàn dào

我们的外地客人呢基本上能占到60%

60% of our guests are from other places

jiù shì néng gòu gěi tā men tí gōng zhè yàng yī gè kōng jiān

就是能够给他们提供这样一个空间

It’s rewarding for me

To be able to provide them with such a space
