lit. lock the door and search for the right word (idiom); fig. the serious hard work of writing
Describes thinking hard while composing a poem
宋徐度《却扫编》卷中"﹝陈师道，字无己﹞与诸生徜徉林下，或愀然而归，径登榻，引被自覆，呻吟久之，矍然而兴，取笔疾书，则一诗成矣。"后因以"闭门觅句"形容作诗时冥思苦想。
